ALEXANDER-LEE & THEE VATOS SUPREME are a roadhouse rocking Vintage, and Alt. Country & Western, Tex-Mex band from Bloomington, Indiana. With their name, THEE VATOS SUPREME pay homage to Billy Childish (English singer, guitarist, painter, poet), and translates in SA (Spanish American) to “Thee Supreme Dudes.” Having grown tired of the same played out country tunes, and boring stage shows, THEE VATOS SUPREME became the change they wanted to be and the change they wanted audiences to see. One satisfied audience member, admiring adamantly commented, “This band is like taking a vacation in your home town.”
Thee Vatos Supreme’s ringleader, Alexander-Lee McQueen, was born in the limestone country of Oolitic, Indiana and cut his musical teeth in the punk rock scene of nearby Bloomington. But he also fell under the spell of Texas Songwriters like Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, and Joe Ely– eventually moving to Austin Texas to hone his songwriting and performing skills. He has played high energy Honky Tonk and Tex-Mex influenced shows from Boston to Denver (where he opened for Gordon Gano of The Violent Femmes), Nashville to Chicago, and New York to Los Angeles.
Now he’s back, home again in Indiana! Swinging high & wide — Woodshedding with world renowned and regional stalwarts:
JERRY MILLER (lead guitarist for Eilen Jewell) on Pedal Steel & Telecaster;
SAM FINELY (of The Double Digits) on Bass;
TIM MOORE (of Salaam Band) on Drums
– collectively known as Thee Vatos Supreme – to bring that same much needed energy to country music fans everywhere.
